Challenges of the district : Our research with local communities We face the issue of acute shortage of employment
opportunities. Due to lack of industries many people are unemployed.
There is an urgent need to open out more employment opportunities
for the youth. Agriculture is the only source of income. Farmers still
use the primitive methods of farming. Irrigation facilities are not
well maintained. Cotton cultivation is the major crop cultivated.
This cultivation depends on various methods. It needs good rainfall.
If the amount of rainfall is low then the crops are ruined. The farmers
even lack awareness about the market and they are unable to earn profits.
Farmers are poor and they take loans from the money lenders to buy
seeds and other equipments. These money lenders exploit the farmers
and take away their belongings. This forces the farmers to committee
suicide.
