Mr.
Kapur narrates a scene, from his
Movie Paani, where thirsty
mob attacks a car to steal water
from its radiator.
The scene was that the people from
water-rich areas (i.e. the upper
city) come to the water-scarce area
(lower city) by accident. The residents
of the lower city notice this car,
they know that people having enough
water, will never travel without
it. So they attack the car, take
their water and also water out of
the radiator.
It (the scene) talks about a period,
where due to water scarcity people
will fight with each other over
it.
While writing a script, you imagine
the reactions of the people. Imagine-
a water shortage at Malabar Hill
and a tanker is on its way. If this
tanker passes through areas with
no water, the people will definitely
attack the tanker.
The consequences (of water scarcity)
will not just stop with attacks.
We will have police in charge of
water, and ultimately the army will
have to protect water.
People in Malabar Hill will afford
to have as many tankers as they
require, but these tankers have
to pass through areas with inadequate
water supply. Will the people let
the tanker through- No.
This inspired me to think about
the scene.
